Welcome to Traveling Horse

The first horse transportation and lay-over stable resource website of it's kind, we welcome you to find the assistance you are looking for.  From lay-over stables to transportation of equine, small pets, farm equipment etc., we have professional, honest and dependable transporters and stable owners.  Have a small critter or equipment that needs to be moved?  Send us a request and we have transporters that will do it!

Transporting a horse use to be a very difficult thing to accomplish.  Thus the reason Jeannie Haugen originally created the website.  Her vast knowledge and expertise is extended for you to absorb and utilize.  Please be sure to do your due diligence in selecting a good transporter.  All of the transporters on this site are respectful, honest and dependable.  If you should ever have a complaint, please feel free to contact us immediately at [email protected] .

Transport companies have told me we have the most productive site out there.  Because of being a horse owner, I built my website with the horse owner's needs in mind.  I get emails from horse owners all the time thanking us for creating Traveling Horse.  I may not be able to solve all the problems in the world but I can help with 'horses on the move'.

Stable listings are very informative and a real time saver.  Transport companies and horse owners often need to know where they can find layover services while traveling with their horses.  I promote and market heavily and have very steady web traffic for transport services, which is where my website began.  Many of these horse people are relocating and also need to find long term boarding facilities for their horses.  I find people who are looking for all types of stables from the most basic to full equestrian facilities.

Are you looking to have your transport business or stable listed in our directory?  New membership pricing  program makes it more affordable and convenient.  Please complete the Contact Us form completely.  We will be in contact with you within 24 hours.

All requests are submitted to the appropriate people immediately so there is very little time between when you submit the request to when the transporters will be contacting you.
Currently a classifieds section is in the making for the sale of horses, equipment, trailers, etc.  We are also working on a directory for Trainers and training stables.  Some of the current stables will note if they have training abilities.

Traveling Horse is not responsible for any safety or transportation issues that arrise during your transaction with the transporter.

On December 18, 2018 a new federal mandate goes into effect requiring companies running vehicles over 10,001 GVWR to use electronic logging devices (ELDs) to track the driver hours of service (HOS). This mandate includes trucks as small as an F-150 pulling a horse trailer if used as a commercial vehicle. On July 10, 2017 a bill was introduced  to the House Appropriations Committee and passed to exempt livestock haulers from having to comply with the new mandate for one year. The bill now waits for the full House and Senate votes.
Livestock haulers, ranchers and horse transportation business are encouraged to write to their state’s senators since opposition in the Senate is expected. The following links are provided for more information about the bill and the FMCSA mandate.

This site was originally created by Jeannie Haugen, a horsewoman who traveled with her horses all around the North and North Central states of the United States.  Her first horse, "Whiskey" and Jeannie found the horse transportation industry lacking in connections and availability, hence the reason for TravelingHorse.com to come to life.  Jeannie passed in 2016 so her sister, Connie Dixon, picked up the reins and is continuing the work with this website.

This site is dedicated to Jeannie Haugen by her family.  We know she is now riding the clouds of heaven with her beloved horse Whisky.  We would also like to thank all of the transporters, horse people and stable owners who made her website possible and were such dedicated friends to her, I know she appreciated it.
  1. Transporters
Transporting a horse or other animal is always a frustrating and sometimes fearful thing to do. To some of us, our horses, dogs, etc are like an extension of ourselves and are very important. This is why we take pride in knowing the transporters on our list as much as possible. Some have been with us since 2002 and some are newer.
  2. Lay-over and Boarding Stables
Traveling Horse Transport & Stables Directory has become known in the horse world as a place to find the 2 main needs for a horse that travels. There is always a need for good Stables in this listing directory.
  3. Trainers
This area is currently under construction This will have a list of trainers around the USA/Canada available for the different riding disciplines.
